Mickey and the Pemberton kids are going to visit their parents in jail in next week’s episode of “The Mick.”

According to the synopsis for Season 2, episode 3 of the Fox series, Mickey (Kaitlin Olson) takes Sabrina (Sofia Black-D’Elia) to visit her mother Poodle (Tricia O’Kelley) in prison to get closure , but it turns out Mickey may be the one who needs it the most.

Meanwhile, Chip (Thomas Barbusca) enlists Jimmy (Scott MacArthur) for help when he learns that his “father” Christopher (Laird Macintosh) is in danger behind bars.

In an interview with Entertainment Weekly last month, series co-creator Dave Chernin said that the Pemberton kids “have different experiences in prison but no one takes to the lifestyle more than Young Ben (Jack Stanton).”He gets a nice, guided tour of a maximum security penitentiary. It’s a summer camp-type experience for him,” Chernin said of Ben’s trip around prison. “He comes out with a little souvenir. He’s changed, but he’s unscathed for the most part.”

Since the episode is a reunion of sorts for the Pemberton family, could it be the installment where Chip finally finds out that he’s not a full-blooded Pemberton?

In the Season 1 finale, Poodle revealed to her husband Christopher that Chip is not his son. No one from the main characters was around when that secret was revealed, so it remains to be seen how Chip and the rest of the core characters will learn about it.

“I love that it was just a little thing that was dropped,” Olson said of the secret in an interview with TVLine last month. “There will be more little things dropped, and we’ll eventually explore that. I love it, and I think it’s hilarious — mainly because Chip identifies as a Pemberton more than anyone. And he loves his daddy, even though he won’t call or check in on him.”

While Olson didn’t reveal when exactly will Chip find out about it, the actress said that the mystery surrounding Chip’s real dad is going to be a “big through line” of the new season. “We’re not even halfway through our second season, so we haven’t figured everything out, but we’re kicking around ideas about who his actual father could be. It’ll be a really fun story to execute,” said Olson, who also serves as an executive producer on the show.

“The Mick” Season 2, episode 3, titled “The Visit,” airs on Tuesday, Oct. 10 at 9 p.m. EDT on Fox.
