Rumors are rife that Microsoft is working on a successor model for the Surface Pro 4 that was announced in October 2015. The company is also said to be manufacturing on Surface Book 2, an upgraded version of its first generation model.

Surface Pro 5 Specifications, Features

Early speculations indicate that the next generation Surface Pro 5 will be fueled by Intel Skylake chipset. Also, it is expected to release with the latest Windows 10 Redstone 2 OS preinstalled, Tech Radar reported.

One of the major issues associated with the Surface Pro 4 is its battery performance that is said to last around five to six hours. Hence, the Surface Pro 5 is expected to deliver better battery performance of about seven hours.

The Surface Pen is also expected to arrive with new improvements. Speculations indicate that it will be coming with power on/off button, a charging pot and a LED light for notifications.

The Surface Pro 4 is fitted with a 12.3-inch display that offers a resolution of 2736 x 1824 pixels. However, the Surface Pro 5 is expected to arrive with a larger screen of 13.3 inches to order to take on the Apple iPad Pro that comes with a 12.9-inch display. The 13.3-inch Surface Pro 5 may carry support for 4K resolution.

Even though rival products like Chromebook Pixel and MacBook come with USB Type-C port, the Surface Pro 4 lacks it. Hence, the Surface Pro 5 is speculated to arrive with a USB Type-C port.

Surface Pro 5 Release Date, Price

Since the Surface Pro 4 was announced around six months ago, Microsoft is currently not talking about its successor model. However, the rumor mill is of the view that the Surface Pro 5 would be launched in October this year. The starting model of the Surface Pro 5 is speculated to be priced at $899.
