  • Tyson and Jones Jr. is set to fight during Thanksgiving weekend

The showdown between Mike Tyson and Roy Jones Jr is about to happen during the Thanksgiving weekend. But who is the winner when it comes to net worth?

Mike Tyson gained prominence in the ‘90s after obliterating opponents in a brutal manner, with fights often ending in the early rounds. He defeated more recognizable names such as Marvis Frazier, Trevor Berbick and James Smith. He held three belts at the same time back then, becoming the first heavyweight in boxing history to achieve the feat.

“Iron Mike” retired in 2005. His illustrious albeit controversial career earned him a lot, especially at his peak, but like many dominant athletes in their time, “The Baddest Man on the Planet” also succumbed to keeping a luxurious lifestyle that led to his own demise. The Brooklyn, New York native earned around $413 million when adjusted to the current inflation rate, according to Celebrity Net Worth.

The former heavyweight champ’s fortunes are currently only around $3 million, and a lot of it comes from his weed business that rakes in $500,000 per month. Tyson owns the Tyson Holistic Holdings that releases different types of cannabis products.

Tyson’s upcoming fight against Roy Jones Jr. is seen as a money-making event rather than a real boxing fight. Jones Jr. has a net worth of around $5 million, a separate Celebrity Net Worth report revealed. This means that the Pensacola, Florida native is ahead of his rival when it comes to personal wealth. Both boxers are evidently past their primes and the rules and regulations are limited to only an exhibition match. However, both boxers promise a knockout that the fans are eagerly waiting to see.

Jones Jr. also had financial problems due to failed business ventures. He once had a recording studio and was into real estate investments as well. When both failed, he filed for bankruptcy in 2014. At the height of his career, he earned an estimated $55 million off fight winnings, endorsements and pay-per-view bonuses.

Outside boxing, Jones Jr. appeared in several movies such as “The Devil's Advocate,” “Cordially Invited,” “Universal Soldier: A New Dimension,” and “Southpaw.” The former IBF Middleweight champion even released an album in 2001 entitled "Round One: The Album.”

When the pay-per-view revenues roll in, the winner of the Tyson-Jones Jr. showdown could earn as much as $10 million. Fans are hoping to see an action-packed event, but experts fear that either fighter could suffer serious injuries due to age.
