Mikey Garcia’s brother and longtime trainer, Robert Garcia, has slammed returning undefeated champ Floyd Mayweather Jr. for wanting to fight MMA fighters.

Things are getting a lot more exciting in both boxing and MMA as the undisputed welterweight champ Mayweather announced his return in 2020. Mayweather is reportedly fighting twice next year. One of the said fights is apparently the much awaited rematch against Manny Pacquiao and the other one is rumoured to be either an MMA fight or another boxing match against a UFC star.

Ahead of Mayweather’s return, Robert, brother Mikey Garcia, who is viewed as Pacquiao’s next possible opponent aside from “Money,” commented on the possible outcome of the Mayweather vs. Pacquiao rematch.

In a quick interview with Elie Seckbach of EsNews, Garcia suggested that Pacquiao could finally score a win against the undefeated Mayweather. According to veteran trainer, Mayweather will put his flawless 50-0 record at risk should he decides to fight Pacquiao again.

“Pacquiao looked good in his last fight,” Garcia said.

“For him, staying undefeated is the most important thing,” Garcia said about Mayweather.

Garcia also blasted Mayweather for choosing MMA fighters as his next opponent instead of world champion boxers. Aside from having doubts that the legendary boxer will really come out of retirement, Garcia also thinks that Mayweather likes fighting “MMA guys” because he knew he could defeat them easily.

“If he does (return) it would be against an MMA guy. A fight which he knows he’s gonna win,” Garcia predicted.

As early as now, Mayweather’s return is already plagued with issues. His father Floyd Mayweather Sr. recently expressed his disgust upon learning that his son is also considering doing MMA.

“I don’t want (it), it ain’t the same. It’s not the same, I’m just saying,” Floyd Sr. said about Mayweather being in talks with UFC president Dana White.

“You got things that Floyd can do, a lot of other things other than (MMA) and they said he was saying something about getting into that, what that thing called? It better not be the MMA,” Floyd Sr. continued.

Mayweather Sr. is very positive that his son will not fight for the UFC. In fact, he was even confident that Mayweather Jr. wouldn’t make a deal with White and if things go the opposite way for him, he’ll “take over.”

“You don’t think Floyd would take nothing like that? I don’t think he’d take it either because I’d go in there and whoop Dana White! F--k yeah I will. I’d whoop the s--t out of him,” Floyd Sr. exclaimed.
