A 38-year-old mother in New Jersey sought help for her wrist when she called 911 in February. However, police said she sustained the injury while killing her 4-year-old son.

The woman, identified as Elina Gutti, fatally slit her son’s throat and left his body in his bedroom on Feb. 6. She then called police at around 2:30 a.m. to her South Bound Brook home, complaining about "unexplained injuries to her wrist," New York Post reported, citing police reports.

When officers arrived at the scene, they were met by the woman, who had blood on her hands, the charging document said. The cops searched the premises and discovered the lifeless body of 4-year-old Aiden Singhania with severe lacerations to his throat.

Also discovered at the scene were two bloody kitchen knives on the floor next to the child’s bed. Aiden was pronounced dead at around 3:15 a.m.

Gutti hardly showed any emotion when she was questioned by officers at the scene. When the body of her son was found, all she said was, “This is pretty serious,” NJ.com reported.

Prior to the incident, the 38-year-old reportedly told her former husband recently that she was suffering from depression.

Gutti was indicted Thursday on first-degree murder and two counts of third-degree possession of a weapon, according to Somerset County Prosecutor Michael Robertson.

In related news, this case comes not long after an Idaho couple was charged with the death of two children.

Lori Vallow and Chad Daybell face first-degree murder charges in connection with the death of Vallow’s children from two previous marriages, Joshua "JJ" Vallow, 7, and Tylee Ryan, 17, BBC reported. Their bodies were found at the home of Daybell last year.

Daybell is an author who has written several apocalyptic novels based on Mormom religious teachings. The two were believed to have come together in a movement to promote preparations for the end of the world.

Daybell was also charged with the murder of his ex-wife, Tammy. She died weeks before Daybell and Vallow got married. Both have been in custody since last year and were previously accused of concealing evidence.
