Kim Richards is finally speaking out after the death of ex-husband Monty Brinson. The former "The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills" star took to Instagram Monday night to share her sadness about losing her daughter Brooke Brinson's father. Although it is clear that Kim, 52, is heartbroken, she appears to be in a a good state of mind.

As was reported by People magazine, Kim paid tribute to her former beau on Instagram. She shared a photo of them slow dancing and shared with fans how much she loved Monty, 58. Kim called him a close friend and "amazing person." She fondly recalled the three decades they spent together, adding that she was beyond thankful for the relationship. In closing, Kim assured fans they would one day be reunited calling Monty her "angel."

Kim's brother-in-law, Rick Hilton, broke the news of Monty's death on Instagram Monday. He shared a photo of a statue depicting cowboys in battle writing that Kim's former beau has lost his fight against cancer. Rick said Monty had a big heart and was "loved by all." Shortly after news broke, Paris Hilton, Monty's niece, took to Twitter to weigh in on his death. She told her 13.5 million followers she was "heartbroken" by the news.

It remains unclear when Monty was diagnosed with cancer. WetPaint reported in November 2014 that Kim, who struggles with substance abuse issues, was having a hard time coming to terms with her ex's diagnosis. She and Monty, who were only married for a brief period in the 1980s, were close friends long after their divorce. As such she decided to move him into her home to help care for him as he attempted to beat cancer. His move into her home was featured during Season 5 of Bravo's "RHOBH" with Monty making a few scattered appearances.

Funeral plans have not yet been made public.
