Mother Kills Toddlers With Knife For Throwing Dirt In Food While Playing, Hides Bodies

In a horrific incident, a 27-year-old woman killed her two minor daughters with a knife and hid their bodies in a bed in the northern Indian state of Haryana. Local police said Monday that after the murders the mother tried to kill herself.

Police a murder case was registered against the woman after her husband filed a complaint. The husband told police that his wife was angry at their daughters after they threw dirt in the breakfast while playing. Shortly after the husband went for work, the mother killed the two children, aged 3 and 1, with a knife. She also stabbed her neck several times.

After hearing some noise, neighbours reached the woman's house and found her lying in a pool of blood. They took her to a nearby hospital from where she was referred to Hisar Civil Hospital, where she remains in critical condition, local media said.

When the villagers searched the slum where the woman lived, the bodies of both the girls were found in the bed.

Last month, an 11-month-old baby was smothered to death by her mother in the Indian state of Madhya Pradesh. The woman, who was suffering from depression, later killed herself. Local police said that the woman, a wife of a software professional, jumped from the third floor of her house.

The woman's husband stated that she was diagnosed with clinical depression and often gave a skip to prescribed medicines. The bodies of the woman and the baby were sent for autopsy. The woman's husband said that she got clinically depressed after suffering a miscarriage.
