A 27-year-old woman and her partner were arrested after police found that the mother killed her four babies by suffocating them. The incident took place in the village of Ciecierzyn in Opolskie Voivodeship in southwestern Poland.

Local police launched an investigation into Aleksandra J and Dawid W, after their neighbors informed authorities that they had seen the woman pregnant four times in the last five years but never saw any children in the home, according to the Daily Mail. Police arrived at the couple's home and conducted a search. The timeline of the killings remain unclear.

They found the remains of three children hidden in a stove and the remains of the other youngster buried under a tree.

During questioning, police found that the mother gave birth to the children at home in bath and soon after put them in plastic bags, killing them through suffocation. Following the revelation, Aleksandra J was charged with four counts of murder and her 37-year-old partner was arrested and charged with four counts of accessory to murder.

Of all the children the woman got pregnant with, she just raised one of them who is now 6-years-old.

According to the Daily Mail, the woman's partner Dawid W allegedly exerted psychological pressure on Aleksandra J not to report her pregnancies to the healthcare system as he did not want more children with her.

"I can't say a bad word about her. She took care of her son, she was very social," one of the neighbors told the U.K. tabloid. "The child was well-dressed, nice looking. What happened under the roof of their home is terrible."

According to the neighbors, Aleksandra J never admitted to them that she was pregnant and each time someone asked her, she denied saying "I just have problems with my stomach, I'm not pregnant."

If convicted, the couple could face life in prison. The investigation is ongoing, police said.

In another incident that took place in Chandler, Arizona, a mother was arrested after the body of her 4-week-old baby was found in her house. Earlier, the mother told police that her child was missing.

"She stated that she was in the process of putting the child into the car seat of her vehicle when someone came up behind her, put a bag over her head and took the child," police said. After an investigation was launched, police found the baby’s body inside a duffel bag.
