Motorola has started the Android 5.1 soak test for its Droid Turbo smartphone. It means the handset will soon receive the much-awaited update of the Google Android 5.1 Lollipop operating system. Motorola has already released a tweet to Droid Turbo users that the update will arrive soon.

David Schuster, a software manager for Motorola, has posted on his Google+ profile that the Android 5.1 Droid Turbo soak test is underway exclusively for forum-registered users. If no issue is found during the soak test, the Android 5.1 Lollipop update will be rolled out to Droid Turbo owners this week.

Members of the Motorola Feedback Network are already enjoying an early preview of the 5.1 Lollipop build, claims Droid Life. The Motorola Droid Turbo that arrived last October is still stuck on Android 4.4.4 KitKat. The new update will bypass Android 5.0 and Android 5.0.2 and directly install Android 5.1.

Phone Arena states that even though Android 5.0 and Android 5.0.2 will be skipped, their features will be available on the Android 5.1 Lollipop update. Since it is the first Lollipop update for Droid Turbo, it will bring the Material Design interface, Quick Settings menu, Android ART Runtime, enhanced security, Battery Saver, Recent Apps and more features.

The Motorola Droid Turbo is one of the powerful smartphones of 2014. The handset is exclusively available through Verizon in the United States. The Super AMOLED screen on the device measures 5.2 inches. It comes with support for Quad HD resolution of 1440 x 2560 pixel and pixel density of 565 ppi.

It features the same Snapdragon 805 chipset that is under the hood of Samsung's Galaxy Note 4. It comprises of a quad-core processor that clocks at 2.7 GHz and Adreno 420 graphics. The SoC on the Droid Turbo is supported by 3 GB of RAM.

There is no memory card slot on the device. When it comes to native storage, users are provided with 32 GB and 64 GB options. There is a rear camera of 21 MP enabled with dual-LED flash and a 2 MP front-facing camera. It is packed with an enormous battery of 3,900 mAh capacity.
