  • Roma, through Jose Mourinho's idea, is planning a transfer swoop for Torino's Andrea Belotti, a report said
  • According to Torino manager Davide Nicola, Belotti gets angry if he can't score goals
  • The Italian striker is also a target of Tottenham and Liverpool, according to reports

A prolific striker may have just become one of Jose Mourinho’s first targets ahead of his debut season with AS Roma.

Mourinho is set to take charge of Roma at the end of the season, but as early as now, the Portuguese coach is said to be already working on potential transfers. Among the names included in Mourinho’s transfer wish list is Torino talisman Andrea Belotti, Italian outlet Calciomercato reported.

This summer, Mourinho is expected to spearhead the pursuit of Belotti, who currently earns around the region of €3.5 million ($4.2 million) per year and could be available for just €25 million ($30.4 million), the report said.

What’s even more interesting is that Torino isn’t one of the top clubs in Serie A and is on the verge of getting relegated to the second division at the end of the current season. Given the situation, some reports suggested that Belotti might fancy teaming up with an award-winning coach such as Mourinho, who is expected to design a winning project for Roma.

However, one thing certain is that Belotti seemed unbothered by the news and is still bagging goals for the club. To date, the Italian striker already has 12 goals and six assists to his name.

Torino manager Davide Nicola is pleased with Belotti’s incredible goalscoring mentality. In fact, Nicola even unintentionally revealed that the right-footed forward “gets angry” whenever he doesn’t get to hit the back of the net.

“Andrea [Belotti] is in a good condition,” Nicola recently told Italy 24 News. “When he returned from Covid he did not have the opportunity to breathe because for us it is important but it must be managed. If he gets angry because he doesn’t score I am extremely happy.”

Aside from Roma, Belotti has also been drawing attention from English Premier League clubs. Earlier reports said that Liverpool and Mourinho’s former club Tottenham are keen on bringing the goalscorer to England, per Tuttosport.

Through Mourinho’s advice as well, Roma has also identified Nemanja Matic of Manchester United as another target ahead of the next transfer window, according to various reports from Italy.

Eleven years after he left Inter Milan, the renowned coach is planning to reunite with the Siberian midfielder at Roma, the report said.

It is said that Roma has already reached out to Manchester United for the possible transfer of Matic, a veteran midfielder who played under Mourinho during the manager’s time with Chelsea and the Red Devils.
