A bouncer at a Philadelphia nightclub will be charged with third-degree murder after he punched a man who has since died from the fatal blow.

The bouncer, Kenneth Frye, is being accused of punching a 41-year-old Eric Pope outside the Tabu Lounge & Sports Bar just before 1 a.m. on April 16, WCAU, an NBC affiliate out of Philadelphia, reported.

According to police, Frye allegedly brought Pope, who was reported to have been intoxicated, outside the club, where he then punched him in the face, as reported by the news outlet.

It was unclear at the time of writing what caused the altercation.

Sources for WCAU said Pope fell to the ground after he was punched by Frye and was unconscious. Pope was transported to Jefferson Hospital in Philadelphia, where he was put in intensive care. He died from his injuries on Sunday.

Video footage of the altercation, obtained by WTXF, a Fox affiliate out of Philadelphia, seemed to confirm the sources’ account of the incident.

Frye was employed by Wynnewood, Pennsylvania-based private security company Main Line Security on a contract for Tabu, according to WCAU.

As of Wednesday evening, police were currently looking for Frye, who was expected to turn himself into the authorities the same day or be taken into custody.

Third-degree murder charges are typically issued in killings where there is no other felony crime or those crimes that are believed not to have been premedicated.
