National Old Stuff Day, observed every March 2, is a day to remember and appreciate all the old stuff we have for memory sake. However, it's also the perfect time to let go of the things not needed anymore and make room for new things.

The day celebrates the old things we still have have with us, whether it's trinkets or mementos, we keep in the closet or perhaps old habits and routines we have had for a long time.

On this day, some people could take the opportunity to sort through the old things they have stored up and possibly forgotten. They could spend the day appreciating them and reminiscing about the time when they were still being used. For instance, old items that were given as gifts could remind them of the giver. Or perhaps old toys could conjure up memories of when they were still much younger.

Another way to appreciate these old things, however, would also be to donate them. Instead of letting them gather dust again, perhaps it's time to consider letting them go and giving others a chance to use them. This way, the old things that have no use for the current owners anymore could still find new home with someone else.

Letting them go could help people declutter their lives, whether they're letting go of old, beloved items or perhaps old habits and routines. This could leave more room for new experiences, even if it's something as simple as a new way of organizing one's cabinets or trying out a new activity.

To mark the occasion, let's have a look at some quotes about decluttering that may just inspire you to sort through your old stuff today. (Courtesy: Filling The Jars, Apartment Therapy and Good Reads)
