National Parents’ Day is marked annually on the fourth Sunday in July to celebrate the important roles they play in our lives. This year, the day falls on July 25.

In May, we celebrate mothers, and in June we honor fathers. This day is a combination of both, allowing us to appreciate them together as a couple. National Parents’ Day was established in 1994 by the then-President Bill Clinton after he signed Congressional Resolution into law.

Here are some quotes, collected from Everyday Power, to share on this day:

1. "We never know the love of a parent till we become parents ourselves." – Henry Ward Beecher

2. "Let parents bequeath to their children not riches, but the spirit of reverence." – Plato

3. "When you look into your mother’s eyes, you know that is the purest love you can find on this earth." – Mitch Albom

4. "No language can express the power, and beauty, and heroism, and majesty of a mother's love. It shrinks not where man cowers, and grows stronger where man faints, and over wastes of worldly fortunes sends the radiance of its quenchless fidelity like a star." - Edwin Hubbell Chapin

5. "We may not be able to prepare the future for our children, but we can at least prepare our children for the future." - Franklin D. Roosevelt

6. "A parent’s love is whole no matter how many times divided." – Robert Brault

7. "The best inheritance a parent can give his children is a few minutes of his time each day." – O. A. Battista

8. “Children begin by loving their parents; as they grow older they judge them; sometimes they forgive them.” ― Oscar Wilde

9. “First your parents, they give you your life, but then they try to give you their life.” ― Chuck Palahniuk

10. “To understand your parents’ love you must raise children yourself.” – Chinese Proverb
