KEY POINTS

  • Lakers head back to Los Angeles on Monday
  • Spurs continue their Rodeo Road Trip
  • Lakers are heavy faves in odds

It looks like the Los Angeles Lakers have at least brushed off some of their impaired emotions from last week’s tragedy that took the life of Kobe Bryant and eight others. After Damian Lillard torched them on Bryant’s memorial tribute night, the Lakers bounced back strong instantly the next game when they annihilated the Kings in Sacramento.

They head back to Staples Center on Tuesday as they are scheduled to host the San Antonio Spurs. As the team continues to grieve, coach Frank Vogel made a vow that his team will honor the fallen Lakers great for the rest of the season.

Lakers

Saturday’s resounding win against the Kings was an ideal way to wrap up what LeBron James called the toughest of their lives. The Lakers star forward recorded his 92nd career triple-double after finishing with 15 points, 11 assists and 10 rebounds on the lopsided victory in Sactown.

As they begin a fresh week, all the boys in purple and gold will look to channel their inner Mamba Mentalities in hopes to make Bryant proud. James took the responsibility as he promised to continue the legacy left by the LA icon.

Spurs

The Spurs’ Rodeo Road trip this year is off to a dismal start after they bowed on a close call against the Clippers on Monday, 108-105. That makes the team an even bigger target on the road as it holds a dreary 8-15 tally on games away from Texas.

Facing a Lakers team who plays extremely well at home (16-6), DeMar DeRozan and LaMarcus Aldridge will have to summon their grits and at the same time look to make their teammates more involved. The duo combined for 53 points but lacked support from the rest of the team. Patty Mills tried to provide the spark off the bench with 18 but it was still not enough to help the cause of San Antonio.
