  • Multiple Warriors personnel took offense to Celtics fans chanting expletives at Draymond Green
  • NBA commissioner Adam Silver took it all in stride when asked about the situation
  • The Warriors face a 2-1 deficit despite Stephen Curry's third quarter explosion in Game 3

The basketball world is firmly entrenched in the drama surrounding the NBA Finals after the Boston Celtics took a 2-1 lead by dispatching the Golden State Warriors in Game 3.

It seemed as if the Warriors were going to get right back into it in the second half thanks to Stephen Curry’s scoring barrage in the third quarter, but the Celtics’ determination to put them away was simply too much for the Western Conference champions to overcome.

However, another story that emerged from Game 3 was that of Celtics fans emptying out their bag of expletives and directed it towards polarizing Warriors star Draymond Green as they chanted “f--- you Draymond” as if it was a pro wrestling event.

Warriors shooting guard Klay Thompson and head coach Steve Kerr had their own responses to the chant, practically claiming that Boston fans were acting without class.

Inevitably, NBA commissioner Adam Silver was asked by a local Boston TV station about it and had a simple, but equally hilarious response.

“I want fans to enjoy themselves, of course from the league office, you want to see it done with respect, but I get it. I love the energy Boston fans bring to the game,” Silver remarked.

Firing expletives at a player can be a touchy subject within professional sports, best exemplified with Russell Westbrook and his family being on the receiving end of death threats from fans for his play with the Los Angeles Lakers this season.

However, there are times when chants can simply be viewed as fans expressing their frustrations at a player within the confines of a game–something that the audience in the crowd has taken advantage of by also chanting expletives at referees for their officiating.

Fans have also begun going after Thompson for his comments about the Green situation on social media, quoting his now iconic 2016 NBA Finals message towards then-Cleveland Cavaliers star LeBron James.

With the commissioner taking the Green situation as lightheartedly as possible, NBA fans are reminded that such things are fine as long as they keep it within the game and nobody crosses any lines.
