Kevin Durant and Kyrie Irving will enter free agency later in July when they opt out of the final-year of their contracts with Golden State Warriors and Boston Celtics respectively. Both the players will be eligible for max contracts and can join any team they choose with bookmakers now predicting the duo’s next destination and it is not what the rumors suggest.

The Warriors forward is certain to be the most sought after free agent in the summer having helped his team to two NBA titles and winning the NBA Finals MVP on the way. They are favored to win a third in 2019, but multiple reports have indicated that Durant will leave whatever the outcome and join the New York Knicks.

Durant dismissed speculation recently about already having made a decision with regard to his future, choosing to only focus on the Warriors’ wish to win a third straight NBA title. The Bay Area team are desperate to keep him and are almost certain to make the best offer, which is a five-year deal worth $221 million.

The Knicks have a league-high $74 million in max salary cap space and will be ready to use that to lure Durant, but more than just the money, the forward will look to join a team that will immediately allow him to challenge for the title. And despite the rumors, the bookmakers have put him favorite to re-sign with the Warriors rather than look for pastures new.

Heavy.com’s Brandon "Scoop B" Robinson shared the latest odds via bookmaker.eu which showed the Warriors leading the way with odds of -110 with the Knicks close behind at +140. The Los Angeles Clippers, Lakers and Brooklyn Nets make up the top five but with odds of +1100, +1600 and +2000 respectively.

Irving, on the other hand, had verbally committed to re-sign with the Celtics when he enters free agency in July but as the season wore on he has refused to commit to the Boston franchise. Many expect the point guard to leave the team unless they make a deep run in the playoffs, which is either the Eastern Conference finals or the NBA Finals.

Recent reports have indicated that Irving and Durant, who are known to be close friends, could form a partnership in New York, while the Brooklyn Nets has also been touted as a potential destination. But despite all the reports, the bookmakers again put Celtics at the head of the queue to re-sign Irving.

“Scoop B” Robinson again shared the odds through bookmaker.eu which shown Celtics standing at +100 (1/1) to retain the point guard in the summer. The Nets are second on the list with a +500 rating followed by the Knicks at +960. The New Orleans Pelicans are listed as long shots at +1300 for the six-time NBA All-Star.
