Los Angeles Lakers' LeBron James once again showed why he is one of the greatest players to have played in the National Basketball Association (NBA) when he destroyed Rudy Gay with a vicious dunk after blowing past him on the perimeter.

The Lakers' small forward produced this stellar performance during his side's 114-104 victory over San Antonio Spurs on Monday. In the same match, James clinched yet another milestone in the NBA. He became the fifth player in the tournament's history with 12,000 career field goals made.

With the record, the 34-year-old has closed on Chicago Bulls great and NBA Hall of Famer Michael Jordan (12,192), who is fourth on the list, which is topped by Kareem Abdul-Jabbar (15,837) ahead of Karl Malone (13,528) and Wilt Chamberlain (12,681).

Even though James is nearing 35 years of age, the Ohio-born player has no plans of slowing down as he continues to pound dunks on defender’s heads and dribble past them like lightning.

The veteran is also 15th in the list of the number of minutes played in a regular season with 46,789 minutes, which is not even including his appearances in the NBA playoffs. Whereas the playoffs are concerned, he is currently atop with an all-time record of 10,049 minutes, that's over 600 more than the second-highest of Tim Duncan.

After the victory on Monday night, Lakers are at the top of the table in the Western Conference with a 15-2 record.

During a post-match interview, James said, "It’s the same Spurs team I’ve played throughout my whole career. They’re extremely well-coached. If you don’t go in with the mental side, they’ll beat the hell out of you."

Ever since the 2019-20 season has started, James has been in the limelight for his excellent performances, game after game. One of the game's pundits, who have been backing James for a few years now, is former Lakers legend Magic Johnson.

Johnson, who resigned from Lakers' president post ahead of the current season, has insisted that if James continues to impress in the same way and avoids any kind of major injury, he sure will be a strong contender for 202 Most Valuable Player (MVP).

Johnson took to social media to heap praise on James. "LeBron this season is averaging 25 points & 11.1 assists making him #1 in assists. If he continues at this pace he will definitely be the league MVP this season! No one is playing better than him & what’s scary is his story is still being written!" Johnson tweeted.
