The documentary series “The Last Dance” revisited the historic career of Michael Jordan during the 90s. One important aspect of that stretch included Jordan’s baseball stint where his gear is reportedly worth thousands of dollars.

As reported by TMZ, Jordan’s baseball cleats during the 90s were sold for a whopping $93,000. The size 13.5 pair of footwear was handled by Heritage Auctions and is certified as the worn shoes by Jordan himself. It was signed by his Airness in bold silver ink and serves as memorabilia to Jordan’s baseball days.

One of the more memorable moments in NBA history includes Jordan retiring from basketball at the peak of his career. The absence of Jordan on the hardwood of the court left a different mark on the NBA. The Houston Rockets prevailed in consecutive seasons with Jordan focusing on his baseball duties.

The six-foot-six icon was a member of the minor-league affiliate of the Chicago White Sox, the Birmingham Barons. The brief stint Jordan had in baseball highlighted his versatility as an athlete. While Jordan batted .202, the work ethic and attitude he had were all there to make it big someday said MLB Champion team manager Terry Francona.

“He was always so respectful of what we were doing and considerate of his teammates. Granted, he had a lot to learn,” Francona said in ESPN.

The pair of cleats is just among the many memorabilia that have increased in value over the past few weeks. The airing of “The Last Dance” has had other precious items make it’s way to auctioning bids such as a 15 thousand dollar signed check by Jordan in an Indiana Casino.

The documentary serves as a reminder of what the NBA was like decades ago. It depicted how Jordan was able to come in, dominate the game and change how we see sports.

The double three-peat titles the Chicago Bulls won highlighted the dominance of Jordan. Despite the internal turmoil and heated rivalries, the former double-A right fielder was able to immortalize an iconic NBA career.
