KEY POINTS

  • Zach LaVine is clueless on whether he can finally get a supermax contract after the season
  • LaVine will be a person of interest by at least five teams in need of a young rising star
  • The Bulls are expected to dangle a competitive offer in the offseason

Zach LaVine knows that after the current NBA season, he should get what he deserves.

For as long as he stays the course, it appears his best bet is getting that from his current team–the Chicago Bulls.

Pair that up with the fact that the Bulls have been a surprise package this season, it would be foolish to think that Chicago would let the two-time All-Star leave and join another team.

But based on the amount of money he stands to get, there is no denying that LaVine can get the most money out of his current team.

So the main question is, will the Bulls hand it to him?

Once his current contract expires LaVine can get as much as $210 million spread through five years.

Those numbers could jump further to $245 million if the 26-year-old manages to earn NBA All-Star honors this season, CBS Sports reported.

Regardless, the only thing certain is that LaVine knows that he is due a big paycheck.

"I think we all get what we deserve at the level we play at, for our team and around the league. I think I stack up with everybody at that level," LaVine told Vincent Goodwill of Yahoo Sports. "We'll let the chips fall. Is the [max] the goal? I don't know if it's the goal, but I should be getting what I deserve."

There has been little indication that the Bulls are not considering keeping the two-time NBA Slam Dunk champion.

But a lot may hinge on how deep the Bulls can go in the NBA playoffs.

Should it be time for him to move on, LaVine will not fall short of suitors.

Among the teams who could take interest in him include the San Antonio Spurs, Detroit Pistons, Orlando Magic, Indiana Pacers and Portland Trail Blazers.

It would mean getting accustomed to a new environment after spending the last NBA seasons with the Bulls.

Hence, it all boils down to how much money Chicago is willing to dangle to the Washington native.
