One of the players who saw his career take a turn for the worst is Chandler Parsons. After hitting his stride with the Houston Rockets back in 2011, the 30-year-old forward has struggled when he jumped to different teams.

Parsons first joined the Dallas Mavericks in 2014 before signing a multi-year contract with the Memphis Grizzlies in 2016. But injuries hampered his run towards great heights. This included a knee injury with the Mavs, forcing him to miss six regular-season games. The knee issues hounded him until his final days as a Dallas Maverick.

Hoping to start fresh with the Grizzlies, Parsons' troublesome knees struck again. It was his left knee this time, before his right knee also developed soreness. He has appeared only in 73 games with the Grizzlies, averaging a woeful 7.0 per outing.

According to the Athletic, Parsons has been medically cleared to return as early as October. However, management opted to keep the 30-year-old inactive, now sending mixed signals on what the future holds for the 38th overall pick of the 2011 NBA Draft.

The Grizzlies' coaching staff said that they are taking the cautionary approach when it comes to Parsons. But based on his stay, where he has hardly made an impact, all signs point to an eventual standoff -- meaning he could be leaving Memphis soon.

Parsons originally signed a four-year contract with the Grizzlies worth about $94 million, Clutchpoints.com noted. Seeing that they didn't really get much mileage, most are now under the impression that he may eventually be on the way out.

A trade involving Parsons may be out of the picture, with most teams likely to veer away from his unreasonable deal in Memphis. Hence, the most likely route is to see him getting waived by the Grizzlies, after which his future will be touch-and-go.

Had Parsons stayed healthy, he would have been a perfect complement to Marc Gasol. Known to be able to hit it from outside, he would have been an offensive option to free up the middle. That did not materialize and has in fact opened doors to other players to step up in his place.

That includes the likes of Jaren Jackson Jr. and Kyle Anderson. Although their numbers are not that astounding, they are healthy and able to suit up for the team. From here on out, it will be interesting to see how the Parsons situation will turn out. But the longer he stays on the inactive list, the more this hints at him seeing his NBA career slowly slipping away.
