Marcus Morris hardly got a trouble-free summer and he may just draw some flak yet again. Though he explained that it was not a swipe at Kyrie Irving, it all depends if Uncle Drew takes exception.

The 30-year-old Morris was asked by the New York Daily News recently about chemistry issues. This was a problem the Boston Celtics had last season and Morris feels that part of it was because of Irving.

"We don't have that one guy where it's like, okay, he's first," Morris said. "It's a team thing. No knock on Ky, but obviously he's a superstar, he's first. Sometimes his emotions were put in front of the team.

Looking at the Knicks roster, there are no established superstars in the mix - just rising ones. For Morris, his job is to guide and act as a big brother to these younger guys. Among the promising players in the mix include Julius Randle, Dennis Smith, and rookie RJ Barrett. The Knicks were not so lucky in the free-agent sweepstakes in the offseason. Instead, they seemed to invest more in youth and hope they stay the course.

However, not having a superstar may also backfire for the Knicks. They don't have a true leader on the court and someone who will take the lead in tight situations. Morris could step up and take the lead. If not, there are other veterans on the team as well. That includes Reggie Bullock, Bobby Portis, and Taj Gibson. Their minutes remain a big question mark.

Last season, the Knicks technically tanked and opted to see what their young guys can do. For the 2019-20 NBA season, it will be interesting what head coach David Fizdale has in mind. Even better, how will he distribute playing minutes to his players?

In a previous post, word got out that some players were unhappy with the minutes they got in the preseason. Aside from that, some are confused about their roles. It is a dilemma facing the Knicks although all that could change once the regular season starts.

The Knicks open their 2019-20 regular season campaign on Oct. 23 against the hosting San Antonio Spurs. Tip-off is set at 8:30 p.m. EDT.
