Enes Kanter is a player who somehow got lost last NBA season where he initially started with the New York Knicks. With the Gotham City squad looking to rebuild and prioritize exposure to younger players, the 27-year-old found himself booted out off the rotation. He would eventually end up with the Portland Trail Blazers where he played a key role in the team’s playoff run.

Although the Blazers relief heavily on their one-two punch guard combo of Damian Lillard and CJ McCollum, Kanter seemed like a good fit. He normally operates inside and does his job off the boards. This was evident in the playoffs with Portland making it all the way to the NBA Western Conference Finals. The Blazers saw their run cut short after getting swept by the Golden State Warriors.

With that chapter of his NBA life over and done with, Kanter will now wait and see where his next stop will be. Unsurprisingly, Portland is keen in keeping the 3rd overall pick of the 2011 NBA Draft. However, there are at least two other teams interested in the services of the 6-foot-11 behemoth – that being the Los Angeles Lakers and the Boston Celtics, Fox Sports reported. The two powerhouse clubs are in need of a big man to help bulk up their frontline and Kanter looms as a logical fit.

For the Lakers, Kanter could fill in the big man void that new head coach Frank Vogel has to fill. Though Anthony Davis could fill in that easily, the fact remains that the 6-foot-10 big man is more comfortable playing the power forward spot. A Davis-Kanter tandem suggests a possible twin tower combo for the Lakers, a luxury that LeBron James and company would be looking forward to this coming NBA season.

As far as the Celtics are concerned, team president Danny Ainge is looking for new blood as the team moves on from Al Horford. The 33-year-old opted out of his deal with the Celtics and has decided to seek a max contract with other teams instead. Ironically, the Lakers were mentioned as a possible destination although money-matters may prevent that from happening.

Kanter, on the other hand, could be the workhorse that head coach Brad Stevens may be looking for. With guys like Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown likely to stay on, Kanter not only brings his normal double-double game to the Celts but his veteran leadership as well. More teams are expected to consider Kanter this NBA offseason, especially the ones in need of a reliable big man who can do the little things, Real GM reported.
