  • Karl-Anthony Towns has been linked to a trade to the Golden State Warriors
  • The Warriors are likely to fill the spot James Wiseman is set to leave
  • Towns has vowed to win an NBA title with the Minnesota Timberwolves

With James Wiseman sitting on the sidelines indefinitely, the Golden State Warriors could form a new powerhouse squad with an All-Star big man.

After an awkward fall during the Warriors’ win over the Houston Rockets on Saturday, Wiseman has suffered a torn meniscus and is "feared" to be out for the remainder of the 2020-21 NBA season, NBC Sports Bay Area's Monte Poole confirmed on Sunday.

Looking at the Warriors’ current roster, it is highly likely that the team would fill the void of Wiseman. Recent rumors have linked Golden State to two-time NBA All-Star Karl-Anthony Towns, but nothing is concrete yet thus far.

Ahead of Towns’ fantasy blockbuster move to Golden State, some Warriors fans are already buzzing about it.

However, the team's fan community, Golden State of Mind, suggests that though the trio of Stephen Curry, Klay Thompson and Towns could probably form “the best offense in NBA history,” a conversation about it is “unlikely” to happen at this point, given the Dubs could be forced to deal a handful of future prospects in the process.

“Towns is huge and strong, has a ludicrous array of low post tools, is a dynamic rim-runner, and has shot over 40% from three-point range in three of the last four seasons. Put him next to Steph Curry and Klay Thompson and, health permitting, that might be the best offense in NBA history,” the article wrote.

“Towns is 25, one of the best players in the league when healthy, and has many more years of team control. Even if Minny [Minnesota] decided to trade him, a package of James Wiseman and every first-rounder that Golden State can trade is unlikely to even start a conversation,” the website added.

Now that Wiseman is out of the picture, the idea of Towns joining the Dubs could finally make sense, especially if the Warriors will decide to include the former Memphis Tigers star in the trade.

Another possible stumbling block for the Warriors and other teams linked to Towns is the player’s new long-term commitment to the Minnesota Timberwolves franchise.

"If you want to build a legacy we got to win," Towns told Star Tribune in February. "And I want to build my legacy here so I want to win with the Wolves, and I'm going to do everything I possibly can to keep step-by-step, brick-by-brick, building something and a culture here that's going to stand here for a long time."

"I think what's most important to say is this team is connected, this team is together," he added. "Even through all the ups and downs we've been through, the one thing I can say about these guys in the locker room is their character speaks volumes. We've continuously stayed together, trusted in each other."
