Golden State Warriors star Kevin Durant could very well emulate LeBron James by moving to the Los Angeles Lakers for his many business ventures.

James became an unrestricted free agent this summer and joined the Lakers on a four-year deal soon after. The move surprised many, as it was a young Lakers team that not only hadn't made the playoffs since 2013, but were in a stacked Western Conference.

However, James also revealed before he left the Cleveland Cavaliers earlier this year that it wasn't just winning that would decide his next move, but also his family and their lifestyle.

"My family. That's all that matters," James said in April. "I want to continue to win at the highest level, because I know I can still do it as an individual, and then my family. My family is what's most important to me, more than anything."

"That's [where his family wants to live] just a small piece of it. We make joint decisions all together, all the time. Once we get to it, my agent and my team we will all tackle it the right way but my family plays a big part in it. And winning," he said.

Many speculated that played a big factor in James moving to Los Angeles, while others believe it was the 33-year-old's many business ventures and plans for Hollywood. James is producing a number of shows, continues to be involved in various business deals and investments, and will notably star in "Space Jam 2" — the sequel to the first movie that featured Michael Jordan.

And according to ESPN insider Ramona Shelburne, it's more than possible that Durant, who has his own media company in Thirty Five Media, could follow him to the Staples Center for those very reasons.

Durant is expected to become an unrestricted free agent next summer and is heavily linked with a move to either the Lakers or the New York Knicks, with the latter seemingly being the favorites.

“Something I don’t think anybody around NBA is giving enough credence to -- KD is now on the same track as LeBron James business-wise," Shelburne said on ESPN Radio, as quoted on The Express. "He has a lot of relationships in Silicon Valley ... LeBron is here for a lot of the same reasons."

“This is an L.A. operation. If you want to expand into entertainment, this is where you do it. You don’t necessarily go to New York," she added.

Whether it's Los Angeles or New York, given the constant speculation surrounding Durant's future, many would be surprised if he were to end up re-signing with the Warriors.

Shelburne is one of them as she feels a departure from the Bay Area is inevitable at this point.

“I thought he was leaving Oklahoma and he ended up leaving Oklahoma,” Shelburne added. “I think he’s leaving Golden State, I don’t know though. I have the same feeling this time because it's in the wind, a lot of it is just gossip."

“I learned enough about Kevin Durant over the years that this guy is very thoughtful, it (his decision) will not be made just on a whim, its going to be very deep for him, but we won't know what the deep part is going to be until the last minute,” Shelburne said.
