Whenever Lonzo Ball is in discussions, expect his father LaVar to say something afterward. Although that has not happened much so far this season, the stage father has once again started mouthing off about his son.

As most may have heard, Lonzo Ball was one of the players offered by the Los Angeles Lakers to the New Orleans Pelicans recently in an effort to acquire Anthony Davis. During this period, the elder Ball made it clear that he and his son did not want to be in New Orleans. Should his son be dealt, LaVar preferred to see Lonzo move to Phoenix, ESPN reported.

For now, Lonzo will remain a Laker. However, the landscape could change this summer where the Lakers are likely to take another shot at Davis or whoever is available in the free agent market. Similar to what had transpired before Los Angeles pulled out of talks with the Pelicans for Anthony Davis, Lonzo Ball could be packaged once again.

As far as LaVar Ball is concerned, he believes that his son is a vital piece for the Lakers to get back to its winning ways. In fact, he says that Los Angeles will not win an NBA title without the 21-year-old guard, Yahoo Sports reported.

Such a statement from the elder Ball hardly comes as a surprise with most either ignoring or taking shots at his beliefs. His latest statements are apparently a way to sell to the Lakers and its throng of followers that his son deserves to be a Laker.

The Lakers have so far managed to be level-headed with LaVar Ball's tirades. Things are expected to simmer down now that the trade deadline has passed but expect all of it to continue in the summer.

Prior to revealing what he felt had the Davis materialized, Ball had also taken a swipe at Luke Walton and LeBron James. Rather than keep everything quiet, his distraction and rants could eventually push the Lakers to pull the trigger on a trade.

That is not limited to Davis but other free agents the Lakers may be aiming for in the NBA offseason. The more LaVar talks, the more Lonzo is likely to be playing for another team moving forward.
