KEY POINTS

  • The New York Knicks have currently struggled in the past few seasons
  • One possible star that they could aim for is Phoenix Suns guard Devin Booker
  • Leon Rose has been linked to multiple NBA stars given he was a former player agent

The NBA is full of surprises the unpredictability of when a superstar deal would push through. One rumor that has been brewing is how Leon Rose may lure Phoenix Suns Star Devin Booker to the New York Knicks.

With the Knicks’ new leadership role under Rose, speculation has emerged that the Phoenix Suns All-Star is a possible option they can consider.

Per Fadeaway World, Rose’s connection with Booker as a former player agent may play a role in attracting the 23-year-old to New York. The speculation has been immense ever since Rose took over the position with sources indicating that Booker is a hot target.

The Phoenix Suns have benefited from Booker in the past five seasons. Just in his first few years in the league, Booker has proven himself as an elite scorer. The young guard out of the University of Kentucky basketball program has been phenomenal for the Suns. This was highlighted with his historic 70-point outburst against the Boston Celtics back in 2017.

Despite Booker’s constant showing of stardom, the Suns have found themselves again near the bottom of the standings. While they’re continuously developing promising young talent, Phoenix hasn’t reached the playoffs since 2010. The drought has already reached a decade and would want the best for their team when it comes to the trading block.

The Knicks are also in a dire need of a superstar and Booker is already shaping up to be one. The dominant guard has made it to his first All-Star selection with nightly averages of 26.1 points per game.

For the Knicks, the natural scoring ability of Booker can help the likes of RJ Barrett play at a higher level on the guard position. It has been years since the Knicks had a superstar offensive threat, as Carmelo Anthony was the last prominent icon to represent New York. This new spark in the backcourt may help the Knicks bounce back and reclaim a spot in the postseason.

Whether or not the Knicks act on this possibility, it would be interesting to see how they move forward and gather more assets for the future.
