  • Journalist claims that Kyle Lowry is telling friends that he will be traded soon
  • Several NBA teams are interested in acquiring Lowry from the Toronto Raptors
  • Lowry remains valuable even if he is struggling to keep himself physically healthy

The future of Kyle Lowry with the Toronto Raptors is uncertain even if their fans feel that the six-time All-Star guard should stay put.

There is no question that the 34-year-old has been a polarizing figure for the Raptors, a vital cog in their 2019 NBA title conquest.

Lowry is set to become a free agent after the current NBA season. But looking ahead, there are facts to consider. His age will definitely play a factor in his next NBA contract.

With the deadline set on Mar. 25, some feel that Toronto may consider trading him for other players or future assets.

Just recently, American journalist Ryen Russillo appeared on “The Bill Simmons Podcast” (via Fadeawayworld) and alleged that Lowry has been telling people around him that he will be traded.

The pundit is unsure if this is coming directly from the one-time NBA champion or misconstrued. However, he did mention that he feels that it would be in the best interest of Lowry to be traded.

“So I don’t know if that’s him saying it; I don’t know if that’s some understanding that he has with the front office; I don’t know that part of it, but whenever you ask about Lowry, he thinks he’s leaving. I think they should trade him, by the way,” Russilos stated.

Unless there is clarification on whether Lowry himself did say that, all this should be taken with a grain of salt. But if one pieces the facts together, it makes sense in a way.

Lowry is owed $30.5 million this season. In a previous post, NBA trade rumors involving the All-Star guard swirled after he put his five-bedroom property up for sale.

Initially wanting $5.3 million for it, the Raptors veteran guard lowered his asking price to $5.1 million. He purchased the property in 2017 for $5.25 million.

Despite struggling with his health, it remains that Lowry is still an efficient player to have on the basketball court. He is averaging 18 points, seven assists, and five rebounds in 29 games, not to mention shooting it well from beyond the arc with a 40.3% shooting clip.

Several teams could try and pull a trade with the Raptors. The Philadelphia 76ers have been linked to him alongside the Miami Heat, Boston Celtics and San Antonio Spurs.

So the question now is will it happen before Mar. 25 or in the NBA offseason?
