  • Clint Capela on trading block
  • Rockets looking to ship Capela to the East
  • Atlanta Hawks are interested to sign Capela

Rockets starting center Clint Capela is reportedly being shopped to several Eastern Conference teams, including the Atlanta Hawks.

Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN posted the rumor, saying that the Rockets are looking at the Swiss big man as their best asset while they are on a hunt for a decent wing player and some future draft picks.

"The Rockets are engaged in three-way trade possibilities that might allow for them to use Capela to gather the draft assets needed to acquire an impact wing player," Wojnarowski said. "In talks around the league, the Rockets are expressing hope they can find a deal -- or a series of deals -- that would bring them back a wing and a center for Capela by Thursday's 3 p.m. ET trade deadline."

The Hawks have been desperately seeking to consummate a deal that could land them a solid paint anchor. Prior reports said that they were also involved in talks about acquiring Oklahoma City's Steven Adams and Detroit's Andre Drummond.

Capela is the Rockets' "most valuable trade asset" per Wojnarowski. While he has proven to be a potent force in the middle, the "cost certainty and control" of the 25-year-old's contract also lure other teams to take him at least into consideration.

Capela earns $14.9 million this season and will make $16 million, $17.1 million and $18.2 million in the next three years.

In 49 games so far with the Rockets this year, he averaged 13.9 points and 13.8 rebounds per game. The team is currently fifth in the West.
