  • Ben Simmons seems interested in moving to California
  • The Lakers are unlikely to land Simmons due to his stiff contract
  • Simmons could remain in Philadelphia

Ben Simmons appears bent on leaving the Philadelphia 76ers although there is no credible indication on where he could end up.

The buzz going around is that the 25-year-old would like to play for one of the teams in California.

The Golden State Warriors, Los Angeles Clippers, Sacramento Kings and Los Angeles Lakers have been mentioned, but nothing has gone beyond speculation.

Of the teams mentioned, the Lakers are believed to be the curious landing spot. The only problem is that there have been no links tying Simmons to the souped-up squad

Considering that Simmons is still owed roughly $147 million in the next four years, seeing the 6-foot-11 guard moving to the Lakers is deemed a long shot.

Money is seen as a big issue for all teams linked to the top pick of the 2016 NBA Draft. So far, the only team allegedly trying to find ways is the Golden State Warriors.

As mentioned in a previous post, Philly tried to pitch a deal that the Warriors unsurprisingly thumbed down. That deal involved James Wiseman and Andrew Wiggins, as well as the Warriors’ rights to the seventh and 14th picks of the 2021 NBA Draft.

But it appears that discussions are still ongoing and alterations could be made. The Dubs appear to be interested in adding Simmons to the roster.

The problem right now is that Golden State needs to figure out what assets they can give up to land the Australian cager.

It was not mentioned how deep the level of interest the Kings and Clippers have in Simmons. Hence, there is that chance that the three-time All-Star may stay in Philly.

However, Jason Dumas of KRON4News claimed that the relationship between the Sixers and Simmons is beyond repair when he appeared on 95.7 The Game.

With Simmons reportedly cutting all communications, the only person who may know his plans is his agent, Rich Paul.

Until this is settled, expect more rumors to swirl in the coming weeks.
