KEY POINTS

  • The Lakers are also offering Horton-Tucker, Nunn, and a future pick to other teams
  • Nunn’s inclusion raises questions, especially since he has not yet played a single game this season
  • Frank Vogel has his work cut out for him, coaching a depleted lineup

The Los Angeles Lakers may have only one best trade package to offer with Talen Horton-Tucker and Kendrick Nunn headlining the deal along with a future pick.

The package was believed to be offered to the Detroit Pistons, where the Lakers would potentially get Jerami Grant in exchange.

Unfortunately, the Motor City squad is reportedly not interested in the deal per reports.

However, it appears the Pistons are not the only team that the Lakers are talking to.

According to Kevin O’ Connor of The Ringer, the same package is being dangled to other teams.

No club names were mentioned, but it appears the result is the same.

The hesitation is understandable. Technically, the only viable asset being offered here is Horton-Tucker and the future pick.

Nunn has yet to see action this season, something that raises questions on why he is being shopped.

It should be noted that the package that the Lakers are offering is the best they can do.

Although names such as DeAndre Jordan have been mentioned, it doesn’t look like theL akers can get someone who can greatly help their struggling campaign.

Hence, head coach Frank Vogel will have to dig deep and find a way to make things work with the talent he has right now.

Vogel will have a hard wall to climb especially with some players battling the injury bug.

Pundits feel that once Anthony Davis returns, things may take a turn for the better.

As mentioned in a previous post, Kevin Love--a former teammate of LeBron James and Russell Westbrook--believes that the Lakers still have time to get things together and speculates that Los Angeles may be a different team after the All-Star break.
