KEY POINTS

  • Sixers need more shooters to help out on offense
  • Reggie Bullock could be a sensible addition to Philly before the February trade deadline
  • Sixers are looking to resolve internal issues after losing three straight games

The Philadelphia 76ers are reeling, losing three games in a row. With the Houston Rockets up next, things are not looking good for the City of Brotherly Love.

The good news is that Philly remains in the top eight teams of the NBA Eastern Conference. The team is fully aware that something is not right from within. Sitting down and talking about it would help, threshing out each one's role and accountability. And with the NBA trade deadline approaching, adding some more help could be a possibility.

A department where the 76ers could get help is outside shooting. The 3-and-D position is one of the critical needs of most teams right now. Tobias Harris and Josh Richardson but the wards of head coach Brett Brown could use more firepower. One person they could consider is Reggie Bullock.

The 28-year-old may not be a popular choice right now, seeing how he recently debuted for the New York Knicks. Bullock is coming off surgery for a cervical disc herniation but made a good account of himself against the Portland Trail Blazers. The 6-foot-6 swingman finished with 11 points and two rebounds in 15 minutes in his first game as a Knick. Of those 11 points, Bullock was 3-of-5 from rainbow country, CBS Sports reported. Not bad for a guy coming off sickbay.

The Knicks, like the Sixers, are seeking answers as well. A lot of their players have been mentioned frequently in the NBA trade rumor mill although Bullock's name is not one of them. But if Philly knocks and dangles the right offer, New York may just bite.

On paper, Bullock is not exactly the kind of guy who can help that big. He holds career averages of 6.8 points, 2.1 rebounds, and 1.1 assists. His main role is to hoist up three-pointers and defend. Equally appealing is his current pact. Bullock signed a two-year deal with the Knicks where only $1 million of his $4.1 million salary for 2020-21 is guaranteed. The rest won't be guaranteed until June 28 according to Spotrac.

With the Sixers having their share of team salary issues, Bullock could be worth looking into. If they are second-guessing his fit, they could treat him as a player on an expiring contract. But if he performs well, he could be a great addition to Philly moving forward.
