The Phoenix Suns have a real need for a veteran guard who can keep things together. In order for them to get this, someone may have to go, and that person could be new recruit, Kelly Oubre Jr.

Oubre ended up in Phoenix following that celebrated three-team trade around Trevor Ariza. Austin Rivers, seen as one of the players who would have made sense for the Suns, ended up jumping ship to try his luck with other teams who are in playoff contention. The 26-year-old got his release papers on the same day the trade was made official.

After all the personnel moves, the Suns thus failed to address their point guard needs. As mentioned in a previous post, Rivers could have been perfect in feeding big men like Deandre Ayton. Looking ahead and with plenty to spare in the frontcourt, moving Oubre could make sense unless head coach Igor Kokoskov feels a resident player would be better to deal out.

Although new to the team, there is no question that Oubre carries much value. This makes him a great trading chip for other tested players. One person that comes to mind is Terry Rozier of the Boston Celtics.

There is a growing belief that Rozier and the Celtics may eventually part ways. This could happen by the February NBA trade deadline, a point where some teams will be trying to shore up their rosters for the playoffs. There are also others who would be offloading some talent to clear cap space and prepare for the offseason.

The Bleacher Report suggested that a trade for Rozier could be in the minds of the Suns. Oubre and a future draft pick could be part of the package, which may eventually become a win-win situation for both the Celtics and the Suns.

Although the Suns do have Devin Booker, the need for a point guard will help him focus on scoring -- something Phoenix needs badly. With an 8-24 win-loss card and becoming dead last in the Western Conference, the Suns will need a miracle run to book a playoff seat. This early, critics believe that such may be too ambitious given the current conditions.

Despite their talented frontline, the Celtics can do better. They currently sit at fifth in the Eastern Conference with an 18-12 mark, something pundits deem as underachieving. While there are other factors to consider, Oubre could be a vital addition to the Celtics if ever it goes down.
