KEY POINTS

  • "NCIS: Los Angeles" Season 11 will return in Janaury 2020.
  • Hetty will be leaving the show eventually.
  • Callen may get Hetty's job.

“NCIS: Los Angeles” Season 11 may be the last for Linda Hunt as Hetty Lange. The veteran actress has been a part of the show for a decade, and the mid-season finale set up her eventual exit from the show. The person most likely to take Hetty’s job is Callen (Chris O’Donnell).

The following article contains minor spoilers from the mid-season finale of “NCIS: Los Angeles” Season 11.

Hetty’s exit has been on the table for some time now, but it was only in the mid-season finale where it was seriously explored. All the main characters talked about the future of the team and the shakeup at the office in case their boss leaves.

According to TV Insider, the hints on the show suggest that Hetty will not be leaving immediately. The character has been appearing less on the show, and she will be leaving at some point in the future.

As far as the question of who will take Hetty’s job is concerned, Sam (LL Cool J) has already made it clear that he doesn’t want it because he already has specific plans. Sam may be seen training two new recruits in “NCIS: Los Angeles” Season 11. Callen may be reluctant, but he appears to be the obvious choice to take the job.

The other option is to get someone from the outside to head the team. However, that option hasn’t really worked out well for everyone before, TV Insider reported. Promoting someone from within on the other hand should make it easy for the team to function without any problems.

The TV series will continue to bring in new characters, but these will only be cameos and it may not be someone who can take over Hetty’s job. Dina Meyer, who appeared in Season 10 as CIA Officer Veronica Stephens, will be reprising her role when “NCIS: Los Angeles” Season 11 returns next month, TV Insider reported.
