The Brooklyn Nets have made the biggest splash in this summer’s free agency by landing Kevin Durant – one of the most sought after free agents –despite the small forward set to miss the entire 2019-20 season with a ruptured Achilles. They are also in pole position to sign Kyrie Irving with talks underway with the six-time All-Star.

Durant’s decision to sign with the Nets was confirmed on the forward's sports business show “The Boardroom”. It was reported that he will sign a max deal with the Brooklyn franchise when the free agent moratorium ends on July 6.

Initially, it was reported that he will sign a 4-year $164 million deal while Irving would arrive on a 4-year $141 million deal making it max contracts for both players. But ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski later reported that the duo had decided to accept less than a max option in order to allow the Nets to sign free agent center DeAndre Jordan.

The Nets have now reportedly agreed a four-year deal with Jordan worth $40 million, making him their second acquisition following the arrival of Durant. The Brooklyn franchise are also said to have agreed a two-year deal with shooting guard Garrett Temple.

Irving, who is expected to follow Durant and announce his intention to sign with the Nets shortly, will be available from the start of next season and so will Jordan, who will arrive from the Knicks. Durant, however, faces a long road ahead and is not expected to play any part in the upcoming campaign after undergoing surgery in June.
