The New Orleans Saints might be the NFC’s best team. After narrowly missing last season’s Super Bowl, the defending NFC South champions are off to a 4-1 start. They enter Week 6 of the 2019 NFL season on a three-game winning streak.

And for some reason, the Saints are underdogs Sunday afternoon.

The Jacksonville Jaguars are home favorites over the Saints, according to the latest betting line at OddsShark. The game features a 1.5-point spread and an over/under of 44.5.

Jacksonville has bounced back from an 0-2 start. Gardner Minshew looks like the real deal, leading the Jaguars to two wins in their last three games. The quarterback has an impressive 105.6 passer rating with 1,279 passing yards, nine touchdowns and just one interception.

The Jaguars are still a below .500 team that’s unlikely to make the playoffs. New Orleans should cover the spread and beat Jacksonville outright.

The Saints have barely missed a beat since Drew Brees went down. Teddy Bridgewater was essentially a game-manager in his first two starts. The quarterback aired it out in Week 5 when New Orleans needed him to do so, completing 26 of 34 passes for 314 yards, four touchdowns and an interception.

Bridgewater is 3-0 as a starter. Drew Brees won the season opener. The Saints’ only loss came in Week 2 on the road against the Los Angeles Rams when Brees left the contest with a thumb injury.

With wins over the Houston Texans, Dallas Cowboys and Seattle Seahawks, New Orleans has beaten three winning teams. The Saints beat the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, who have been feisty with road wins over both the Rams and the Carolina Panthers.

New Orleans seems to find a different way to win each week. The defense led the way when the Saints beat the Dallas Cowboys 12-10, handing the defending NFC East champs their first loss of the season. A defense and special teams touchdown led New Orleans past Seattle. The Saints have scored at least 30 points in three victories.

Jacksonville doesn’t have a win against a good team. The Jaguars have beaten the Tennessee Titans and Denver Broncos. They came up short against their three opponents that currently sit above .500.

This isn’t the same Jacksonville defense that ranked near the top of the league in each of the last two seasons. The Jaguars are 26th in opponents’ yards per play, putting them four spots behind the Saints. When Jacksonville got their last win, Joe Flacco had his best game of the season with 303 passing yards, three touchdowns and a 98.9 passer rating.

Christian McCaffrey ran all over the Jaguars last week. Alvin Kamara could also have a big performance against Jacksonville.

We don’t need any more evidence to understand how good the Saints are in 2019. New Orleans is an easy pick as an underdog in Week 6.
