  • Apple is expected to release new iPads this year
  • Leaked images show the upcoming iPad's new design
  • The new iPad may look more like an iPad Pro based on the leaked design schematics

Apple's upcoming iPad models may look more like the iPad Pro if newly-leaked device schematics are accurate.

Leaked iPad design schematics published by 91mobiles show that the upcoming iPad model could follow the same design ideas used on the 2020 iPad Pro: thinner bezels, flat edges and an overall slimmer body.

Per the schematics, which the tech site claimed to have come from a “trusted source,” the upcoming iPad will have thinner bezels around the screen. It won't have a physical Home button like its predecessors and will allow Apple to fit in a wider display that measures 10.8 inches without compromising the device's overall footprint.

The site claims that the device will have Face ID as an authentication method, although the images displayed show that the device doesn't have a notch on top to house the necessary components. This could indicate that Apple has found a way to minimize the space needed for the security feature. It could also indicate that the feature won't be there at all.

The leak claimed the device will only have one rear-mounted camera, located that the top-left corner. This camera is accompanied by a lens flash that will prove useful when taking photos or videos in dimly-lit settings.

A LiDAR scanner is nowhere to be seen. But this feature could simply be reserved for the higher-end and more expensive iPad Pro models.

At the back of the device rests smart connectors that could be used to connect the device to accessories such as the Magic Keyboard. If this is accurate, fans might be able to enjoy the benefits of the 2020 iPad Pro accessory such as a more reliable keyboard, the floating hinge and pass-through charging.

At the bottom of the device are two speakers and a USB-C port for charging. The device also four microphones for better audio capture.

The volume buttons are found on the left side, while the Power button is on the right side of the device.

It's worth noting that the alleged iPad design looks similar to the iPad Air design shown via images that were leaked just a few days ago.

If the two designs are indeed for two different devices, it simply shows that Apple is moving toward adopting a sleeker design for its tablets.
