  • Jordan Love from the Utah State Aggies is expected to be selected in the first round of the NFL draft
  • New England Patriots and Miami Dolphins expressed interest in Love
  • Love is often compared to SuperBowl MVP Patrick Mahomes

The NFL draft is approaching and teams are rumored to gain interest in Jordan Love of the Utah State Aggies. Several teams have been linked with the quarterback including the New England Patriots and the Miami Dolphins.

With Love's natural and athletic release on his throws, scouts have compared the incoming rookie to Kansas City Chiefs’ Patrick Mahomes. This was evident in a successful college career that included a second-team All-Mountain West honor in 2018.

Despite Love's potential, scouts also admit that there is still a lot of room for growth for the 21-year-old. They were mentioning his decision-making, ball-placement and consistency on the field.

Overall, Love is still a talented player to look out for as several teams have had their eye on the six-foot-four signal-caller. Per Bleacher Report, some teams that could benefit from him are the Patriots and the Dolphins.

The news of Tom Brady leaving the Patriots for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers indicates that New England is most likely selecting a quarterback in the draft. Jeremy Fowler of ESPN emphasized the importance of the Patriot’s 23rd pick.

"If Love becomes available to New England and it passes—No. 23 might be too rich, and it has needs elsewhere—the notion of teams with picks in the early second round jumping the line to get Love comes into play," Fowler said by way of Bleacher Report.

Per CBS Sports, the Dolphins were also intrigued by Love. Although it might seem less likely that Miami will draft Love with the fifth pick if talents such as Tua Tagovailoa or Justin Herbert are still on the board.

This draft will be pivotal for both of these franchises as they seek to bounce back from their 2019 seasons. It was a difficult campaign for the Dolphins as they ended last year with a 5-11 record. For the Patriots, it will mark a new era without Brady leading the charge for their squad for the first time in almost two decades.
