Amari Cooper is set to be traded from the Dallas Cowboys to the Cleveland Browns, according to reports.

The Cowboys are finalizing a deal to send Cooper and a sixth-round pick to the Browns in exchange for a 2022 fifth-round pick and a sixth-round pick, ESPN's Adam Schefter and Pro Football Talk reported.

The deal can only be made official once the new league starts this Wednesday at 4 p.m., NFL.com reported.

The trade deal appears one-sided, but the Cowboys were bent on unloading the 27-year-old wide receiver rather than taking on his huge contract.

Brown is set to earn $20 million in base salary this season, something that is now the problem of Cleveland.

It was previously reported that Dallas appeared ready to keep Cooper as discussions were ongoing. But with big money matters on the table, trading the Florida native seemed inevitable.

Cooper is coming off a tough season, recording just 68 receptions for 865 yards and eight touchdowns on 104 targets during 15 appearances.

This raised questions on whether or not Cooper was worth a $20 million annual salary. He still has three seasons remaining on the five-year, $100 million contract extension he signed in March 2020.

As of this writing, there is no word yet on whether or not the Browns and Cooper will have a restructured contract. The earliest this can be addressed is Wednesday.

Once the deal is finalized, Cooper will finally have a new team, and the Browns will also get the receiver they need. Cleveland hopes to get more mileage from the four-time Pro Bowler on offense compared to what they got from Odell Beckham Jr., whom they released in November 2021.

While the coming of Cooper is welcome news, there is still a possibility that the Browns may lose another wide receiver in Jarvis Landry, NFL.com reported.

The Browns granted Landry permission to seek a trade, according to NFL Network’s Mike Garafolo. However, the 29-year-old wide receiver is not closing the door on staying on with the Browns.

But the problem is that if Landry wants to stay in Cleveland, he would have to agree to a pay cut. He is set to earn $14.3 million this coming NFL season.
