Aaron Rodgers had big shoes to fill when he replaced Brett Favre as the Green Bay Packers’ starting quarterback, but that might be nothing compared to his next undertaking. The NFL star will guest host an upcoming episode of “Jeopardy!”

“One of my idols growing up was Alex Trebek,” Rodgers, 37, said on “The Pat McAfee Show” Tuesday. “They’re doing some guest-hosting spots. It’s going to be released here very soon but I have the opportunity to be one of those.”

Much of social media had a similar reaction to McAfee upon hearing the news. Rodgers is among the NFL’s most popular players, and the Packers have as passionate of a fan base as any NFL team.

“Jeopardy!” star Ken Jennings hosted the show Monday. Jennings was the show’s first guest host since Alex Trebek’s death in November.

Rodgers won $50,000 for charity as a contestant on “Celebrity Jeopardy!” in 2015.

“Whether it’s watching 'Jeopardy!' at my grandparents’ house during our week in the summer where it was just one of the grandkids with the grandparents,” Rodgers told The Athletic shortly after Trebek died. “Every weeknight we watched it, me, at that point, not able to answer any questions, to jumping at the opportunity to be on “Celebrity Jeopardy!” and getting the chance to meet Alex and just hitting it off. We had a couple of fun conversations. It was just fun to meet someone whose voice you can hear and attach to so many different memories.

“I mean literally, I’ve told friends of mine and people that come and visit and people I’ve dated, six o’clock at my house, is 'Jeopardy!' And that’s just the way it goes.”
