The New York Jets have a new head coach in Adam Gase, but it looks like they are far from done in terms of hiring new people. Rumors are flying that the team has its eyes on Vance Joseph next as the team's defensive coordinator.

Gase was officially named as the Jets' new head coach earlier this month. He took over from Todd Bowles, who was fired last month. Bowles amassed a 24-40 record during his tenure, and his greatest achievement was back in 2017 when the team showed promise. But he eventually ran out of steam, NFL.com reported.

Gase will now be under the pressure cooker as he hopes to turn things around for the Jets. The Miami Dolphins parted with the 40-year-old coach on Dec. 31 after he served for three years. He got the nod over other coaches like Mike McCarthy and Matt Rhule, CBS Sports reported.

With Gase onboard, focus now shifts on whether they can latch on to Joseph. The 46-year-old was another casualty last NFL season for failing to make ends meet over in Denver. Should this happen, it will be a reunion of sorts since both Gase and Joseph worked together with the Dolphins back in 2016, according to the Bleacher Report.

As mentioned in a previous post, Joseph is expected to get his share of suitors. There are head coach vacancies where he could be considered, but he is more likely to be eyed as a defensive coordinator. One team that may reportedly make him as their next head coach are the Cincinnati Bengals, Sports Illustrated reported.

If that does not materialize, Joseph could consider reuniting with Gase and hopefully turn things around for the Jets. But would that tandem go well with New York fans?

In the event that the Jets end up with a Gase-Joseph pairing, expect critics to keep a close eye on the tandem. Both have just recently been fired by their former teams. Also, both carry losing records, and this is likely to be scrutinized if the Jets fail to fly.

It may be too early to tell, with Jets having their work cut out for them. Gase is already in, and it still remains to be seen if Joseph will follow. Moving forward, it all depends on what is offered to Joseph and what he decides to pursue next.
