The immediate future of the Green Bay Packers very much hinges on the latest situation with Aaron Rodgers. If the quarterback doesn't return next season, it could start a domino effect of the team’s best players heading elsewhere.

Packers wide receiver Davante Adams has been one of the league’s top playmakers over the last few seasons. Adams admitted Monday that if Rodgers moves on, it could affect his future in Green Bay

“Potentially, potentially; that's my guy," Adams told Fox Sports Radio’s Colin Cowherd. “That’s the only guy that I’ve had -- other than that 2017 season, when he got hurt. That’s the only guy that I’ve played with.

"We’ve built up a special connection over the years that has put us both in really good positions in our career. Not that he needed me to come along for it, because he was already in that spot, but we’ve established a lot together.”

Adams told Cowherd that it “scared me a little bit” when he first learned that Rodgers wanted out of Green Bay. News broke on Day 1 of the NFL Draft that the MVP no longer wanted to play for the Packers, despite being under contract for a few more years.

“It would change a lot,” Adams said. “Doesn't mean potentially I’d be gone, but I'd definitely have to do some extra thinking if my guy wasn’t here.”

Adams wouldn’t have to ask for a trade in order to leave Green Bay soon. The 28-year-old is set to become a free agent following the 2021 season.

With four straight Pro Bowl appearances, Adams would have no shortage of suitors on the open market. Adams led the NFL with 18 receiving touchdowns and 98.1 receiving yards per game in the 2020 season.

Over his last three seasons, Adams has averaged 91.6 yards per game. Rodgers and Adams have led the Packers to two straight NFC Championship Game appearances.

Jordan Love would likely become Green Bay’s starting quarterback in the event that Rodger gets traded or decides to stay home, significantly hurting the team’s Super Bowl chances.

“Obviously I'm praying everything works out and we get him back and we can continue to go out there and continue to do stuff like we did [last season] because it's a lot of fun doing that,” Adams said.

Adams is set to make just north of $13 million in the final year of his contract.
