  • Deshaun Watson is drawing interest from Carolina Panthers and Seattle Seahawks
  • Watson asked for a trade following the 2020-21 season before the harassment issues emerged
  • Texans head coach Lovie Smith believes things will be solved soon

Uncertainty hounds the future of Houston Texans quarterback Deshaun Watson following his off-field troubles, but that is not stopping the Carolina Panthers and Seattle Seahawks from potentially going after him.

Aaron Wilson of Pro Football Network (PFN) revealed that there are about 10 teams lying in wait for Watson, with the Panthers and Seahawks being the most interested.

“The Carolina Panthers are seriously engaged in wanting to trade for the three-time Pro Bowl selection, with one source characterizing their level of interest as ‘all-in’. Panthers owner David Tepper previously hired an investigator to thoroughly look into Watson’s legal issues,” Wilson wrote.

As for the Seahawks, trading Russell Wilson to the Denver Broncos has created a gaping hole in their quarterback position and Drew Lock lacks the experience of leading a team to success.

“The Seahawks have a lot of draft capital, including the Broncos’ original ninth overall pick, two second-rounders, and players that could be included in a prospective trade, including wide receivers DK Metcalf and Tyler Lockett,” Wilson added.

Watson and the Texans have been at an impasse for about two seasons now after the 26-year-old requested a trade from the team following changes in the front office and coaching staff.

Understandably, the Texans were not willing to trade Watson at any point since they see him as the future of the team until reports emerged about the sexual harassment allegations that he now faces.

ESPN put out the full timeline of the allegations levied against Watson, which has since ballooned to 22 civil cases, will have him face a grand jury on Friday, March 11.

Keeping it strictly on the football field, Watson led the league in passing yards during the 2020-21 season with 4,823 and 444 rushing yards for a total of 36 touchdowns.

Talent is one thing, but sports fans know that the best ability for any player is availability.

With Watson facing a long list of charges in the meantime, the Texans could do themselves a solid by trading him as soon as possible.

Last season’s starter in Davis Mills is looking at a season for him to step up and take the starting job full time if Watson does get traded.

However, Texans head coach Lovie Smith revealed that the Texans are willing to wait it out when it comes to their franchise quarterback.

“Yes, we (Houston Texans) would like a prompt resolution to it, but I’m also a patient man, too, and time normally takes care of everything. We understand this is Year 2, and I know Deshaun wants to play, and it will come to a head. I have faith in that,” Smith said as quoted by PFN.

Both the Seahawks and Panthers are in a weird place right now due to their situation at quarterback, and the Texans may have the answer if ever their patience runs out.
