The 2020 NFL season is moving full steam ahead as players around the league continue to test positive for the coronavirus and more games are likely to be postponed.

New England Patriots cornerback Stephon Gilmore has tested positive for the coronavirus, a few days after Cam Newton did so. Two more Tennessee Titans had positive tests as part of the outbreak that forced the team’s Week 4 game with the Pittsburgh Steelers to be postponed. A member of the Las Vegas Raiders also tested positive for the coronavirus.

Will the season be suspended before Super Bowl LV? The odds of the season being halted are +250, according to Bovada, and the online sportsbook has set the odds of no suspension at -400.

A bettor that places a $100 wager on the season to be suspended would make a $250 profit if all games are stopped at any point this year. A $100 bet on no suspension has a potential profit of $25.

Tennessee is in jeopardy of missing a second straight game because of a coronavirus outbreak. The Titans are scheduled to play the Buffalo Bills Sunday, and the team hasn’t been at its facility in a week.

The NFL adjusted its schedule, moving the Week 4 contest between Tennessee and Pittsburgh to Week 7. The Week 5 matchup with the Bills could be postponed, forfeited or simply not played at all.

MLB dealt with a similar situation when a coronavirus outbreak sidelined the St. Louis Cardinals for 16 straight days. Unable to make up every game, the Cardinals only played 58 regular-season games while the rest of the league played a 60-game schedule. St. Louis made the playoffs based on its winning percentage.

Sunday’s game between the Patriots and Denver Broncos is on for now, despite multiple positive tests for New England over the past few days. New England was just beaten by the Kansas City Chiefs Monday night.

The Chiefs host the Raiders Sunday.
