KEY POINTS

  • Deshaun Watson is still expected to get his fair share of suitors despite legal troubles
  • Interest in Watson will dwindle, and fate may depend on which NFL team will still need a proven quarterback
  • Watson continues to battle sexual harassment claims, which his camp continues to deny

Deshaun Watson of the Houston Texans may be in a lot of heat right now due to legal issues.

Regardless, he remains a potent NFL force that any team would acquire. Hence, it comes as no surprise that multiple teams were interested in taking him in after hearing he was unhappy in Houston.

As most know by now, Watson has made headlines for all the wrong reasons. He is embroiled in sexual misconduct allegations, something most initially found hard to believe.

While such is not uncommon for high-profile personalities, things just got intense with several alleged victims surfacing.

One of them is Ashley Solis who came forward recently and revealed that she continues to suffer from panic attacks, anxiety and depression, AP News reported.

It remains to be seen if this will hurt the stock of the three-time Pro Bowler moving forward.

As of this writing, any NFL trade involving the 25-year-old has not gained much traction.

Reports have it that among the teams who were interested in a deal with the Texans include the New York Jets, Miami Dolphins, Carolina Panthers, Denver Broncos, San Francisco 49ers, New England Patriots, Chicago Bears and Washington Football Team.

Watson was pretty unhappy that he was held out of team decisions, the fruit is seen why he is seeking a trade.

Furthermore, he allegedly made a trade request after another poor NFL season, but Houston was not interested in dealing him away.

But all this was before the sexual misconduct allegations came to being. Watson is now facing lawsuits from 22 different women, and the NFL player’s camp maintains that all these are made up.

The number of teams interested in Watson is likely to dwindle moving forward. With the 2020 NFL passing yards leader in a lot of heat, some have gone a different route.

That includes the Panthers who opted to go with Sam Darnold. Washington shifted to Ryan Fitzpatrick, while the Patriots opted to re-sign Cam Newton.

Other teams are expected to check out young talents at the 2021 NFL Draft. Attention will probably shift to Watson after the rookie scouting process, but the legal issues of the Georgia native will likely factor in.
