  • Nintendo has not yet announced that it will have a Nintendo Direct event in September
  • Rumors have it that the event is centered on the "Zelda" franchise
  • It is believe that the supposed Nintendo Direct will be on September 13

If earlier rumors turned out true, Nintendo would have a major event next week, but even before the official confirmation from the Japanese gaming giant, several insiders claimed that the supposed Direct event centered on "Zelda" games might not yet happen a few days from now because it was pushed back at a later date.

Giant Bomb's Jeff Grubb and GamesBeat managing editor Mike Minotti were the first ones who shared details about a Nintendo Direct event in September. However, on Friday, Minotti said that the Zelda-focused event might be delayed because of the passing of the Queen of England.

"I am terrified to say this because it sounds like something NO ONE will believe but sounds like the Nintendo Direct might be delayed because of the Queen lol," the tweet read.

Grubb said the same about the event and noted that "according to Quarterdann on http://twitch.tv/giantbomb, the Nintendo Direct has likely been delayed because of the Queen of England. I'm not joking. You can come to ask us about it right now."

Grubb added that while he, too, thinks it does not make sense, he hopes it was just a part of a conversation about whether or not they should delay the event. "Anyway, I never said that it made sense. I agree that it's weird. But are you new here? Have you met Nintendo? Hopefully, this was just a conversation about whether or not they should delay, and it still happens."

However, a few hours later, Grubb said, "It does sound like the Direct is still on. If it gets moved around, it will probably be a very minor adjustment. Expect it early next week," and retweeted the post of a voice actor who claimed he has a presentation at the Nintendo Direct this coming Tuesday.

It is worth noting that Nintendo has not yet announced that it will be hosting a Direct event this month. But the Japanese gaming giant is known for making announcements at the eleventh hour.

According to rumors, the supposed Nintendo Direct event will take place on Tuesday, September 13 and will announce the release of two major "Zelda" titles. These are Twilight Princess and Wind Waker, which Nintendo will reportedly release in the Holiday to fill the gap caused by the absence of "The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild 2."
