  • Their discoveries include something really exciting for Switch users

Nintendo has rolled out the Switch System Update 12.0.1. While its patch notes do not say much about its effect on the current-generation gaming systems other than improving system stability, it suggests that it could introduce improved Bluetooth audio capabilities.

This feature is something countless Switch owners have been requesting and many believe that its launch suggests it could also be available on the rumored Nintendo Switch Pro.

Nintendo introduced his update just a couple of weeks after the release of System Update 12.0.0. The latest seems to have introduced more tweaks to the hybrid console and its Lite version. However, data miners discovered a lot more than what the patch notes of Update 12.0.1 reveal. According to Twitter user Oatmealdome, although Nintendo claimed that the update only provides stability, it also updates the hybrid console's operating system components.

The data miner also said that System Update 12.0.1 released updates on the Nintendo Switch's Bluetooth, BSD Sockets and its list of swear words. It is worth noting that the data miner is the same person who shared the changes that Nintendo previously made to the dock through an update, therefore reinforcing rumors about the Nintendo Switch.

The tweak in the hybrid console's Bluetooth comes after Nintendo added audio support to the gaming system's Bluetooth driver. This could potentially mean that the company is broadening the use of Bluetooth headphones on the console.

Nintendo did not detail the Bluetooth changes it made via System Update 12.0.1. However, the discoveries made by data miners are encouraging enough for Nintendo Switch users to hope that changes or new features could be introduced very soon.

Nintendo has not released any major firmware update to the Switch since November 2020. According to rumors, the company may be preparing for the Nintendo Switch Pro.

In the meantime, Nintendo Switch and Switch Lite owners should download the latest update to make sure that their gaming system is up for future features and changes. Nintendo Switch usually downloads the software when linked to the Internet. But for those whose consoles are not online, they can just manually download the update by going to System Settings.
