With the Nintendo Switch OLED Model releasing in October, the Switch family of hardware finds itself back on top again, as it was the best selling console that month selling over 700,000 units. As their products continue to thrive, the Japanese gaming giant recently updated the list of best-selling Switch games to date.

With Black Friday is just around the corner, here are some of the top-selling Nintendo Switch games.

Pokémon Sword and Pokémon Shield

Despite the increased criticism of these entries in the legendary Pokémon franchise, it seems nothing got in the way of their success as they have sold over 22 million copies since their release in 2019. Some may argue that the now 25-year-old monster-catching formula has grown stale, however, its continued popularity cannot be ignored.

Super Mario Odyssey

Super Mario Odyssey is a beautiful testament to Nintendo’s ability to consistently reinvent the classic Mario formula without feeling outdated. With beautiful visuals, an incredible soundtrack, and characters filled with life, it’s no surprise the game sold about 22 million copies.

Super Smash Bros. Ultimate

One of the most critically acclaimed fighting games of all time, the developers of Super Smash Bros. Ultimate masterfully kept the game relevant by constantly adding new characters from various gaming worlds. With over 25 million copies sold to date, you don’t want to miss your favorite characters brawling in this celebration of video games.

The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild

Winning multiple "Game of the Year" awards and often cited as one of the greatest video games of all time, The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild is a graceful evolution of the action-adventure series. It launched with the Nintendo Switch in 2017, selling over 24 million copies since. A turning point in the open-world genre, a sequel is set to release on the Switch in 2022.

Mario Kart 8: Deluxe

Surpassing the famed Mario Kart Wii in sales and becoming the best-selling game in the series, Mario Kart 8 Deluxe was also released in 2017 with the Switch and has never looked back since. With over 38 million sales, the kart racing game remains the best-selling Switch title to date.
