Hello Games recently revealed a short trailer for the “Frontiers” update for “No Man’s Sky,” showcasing all of the exciting new features for fans of the space survival and exploration title.

The “Frontiers” update was previously teased during the game’s fifth anniversary on Aug. 10 with nothing more than a title card and a name reveal. Eager fans can now have a closer look at the update’s contents thanks to the newly released trailer that features short snippets of gameplay with all of the new additions for the game as well as the official patch notes.

Perhaps the biggest addition in the “Frontiers” update is the settlement management. As players explore “No Man’s Sky’s” procedurally generated universe, they may potentially come across planetary settlements.

These settlements will be populated by the game’s many alien denizens, and they will simulate ordinary life by doing mundane actions like going from one place to another, relaxing at a cantina, piloting mech suits and more. There will also be times when two or more settlers get into disputes with each other, and players will have to help them resolve their issues.

Players will also get the chance to become settlement overseers, granting them the right to manage settlement operations.

Settlements can also be grown through the new management feature. Players can choose to build farms or factories to increase productivity or build other structures that can boost settler happiness.

Settlements will provide players with a reliable source of materials and substances. Bigger settlements will produce more resources, but they will also be more susceptible to attacks from Sentinels. Players can research and create defensive structures to repel raiders.

Complementing this new settlement feature is improved base building with hundreds of new base pieces, including ones that are based on the new settlement structures. This will allow players to supplement their existing settlements with new buildings that they design by themselves. The base building UI will be easier to navigate so that players can sift through their available parts quickly.

Other changes include improved graphical effects, increased save slots, new monstrous companions and procedurally generated interiors, among many others.
