  • Martin Braithwaite says he is the fastest among all his Barca teammates
  • He also praises Messi saying the Argentinean can do everything
  • Braithwaite joined Barcelona in February

Martin Braithwaite, who joined FC Barcelona in February, has claimed not Lionel Messi, but he is the fastest soccer player in the Nou Camp side.

After moving to Barcelona, Braithwaite made three appearances for the club and before he could open his scoring chart with the Catalans, the coronavirus pandemic forced La Liga to suspend their current season indefinitely.

Even though the forward is new to a big club’s environment, he has quickly picked up the trends. He recently organized a round of questions with his Twitter followers and was flooded with questions in regards to his skipper Messi.

While he pointed out an area he was better than the Argentinean, the Danish striker ensured he compensated that with a tremendous compliment for the record six-time Ballon d’Or winner.

In a very short period, Braithwaite has got an opportunity to work closely with Messi and hence he has made a few striking observations.

When asked by a fan who is the fastest player on the team, Braithwaite half-jokingly replied, "You are talking to him.”

Braithwaite discussed various topics as he revealed that former Brazil forward Ronaldo and boxing great Muhammad Ali are his two idols. He also added that if he had to swap his hairstyle with, it would be the former's 2002 World Cup hairstyle.

While there were no surprises when he said Nou Cap was his favorite stadium, he also picked his fondest Barca memory. “There are so many. But I clearly remember Iniesta’s equalizer against Chelsea in 2009,” Braithwaite wrote.

Braithwaite also heaped praise on Messi saying his abilities are unlimited. When a follower asked if there is anything that Messi can't do, Braithwaite replied: “If there is, I haven’t seen it yet.”

From the Championship side Toulouse, Braithwaite moved to Middlesbrough in 2018 where he played for two years. He then moved to Bordeaux on loan followed by a loan move to Leganes in 2019. He was then offered a permanent contract and he went on to score six goals in as many as 24 matches for the Spanish side.

After Barca striker Ousmane Dembele suffered an injury earlier this year, the Catalans were allowed to make an emergency signing that brought Braithwaite to Nou Camp.
