  • The official U.K. website of the PS5 seemingly hints about Sony's release strategy for the PS5
  • Sony still maintains the Holiday 2020 release window of the PS5
  • The latest update in PS5's U.K. site could mean that some markets may receive the PS5 at a later date

A new development in the official U.K. website of the PS5 may reveal Sony’s strategy for releasing its next-generation gaming console, according to a new report. For quite some time, the PS5’s UK website lists the “holiday 2020” release window. At present, however, the site updates that Sony’s next-gen console will arrive in “late 2020.”

Gamingbolt reported that Sony has recently updated the official U.K. website of the PS5 to a late 2020 launch date. At the time of this publication, the official U.S. website of the PS5 notes the same Holiday 2020 release window. This latest development could mean that Sony intends to release its next-generation gaming console at different times in various regions.

As the site speculated, it is highly likely that the PS5 would launch in Holiday 2020 in some markets like North America and in the later part of the year in some areas like the U.K. This speculation has been going around these past weeks. It was reported a few days ago that “Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War” seemingly revealed the same release strategy in its official trailer and website.

The official trailer of “Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War” was recently uploaded on the YouTube channel of PlayStation. It mentioned that the PS5 version of the action shooter title would hit the US and Canada in the holiday of 2020. It also noted that the rest of the world would get the game in late 2020. Interestingly, the original version of the video was taken down and was replaced with a trailer that does not mention launch periods.

However, it appears that Activision has not yet totally deleted everything with launch periods. Until now, the official website of “Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War” still notes Holiday 2020 for the PS5 version of “Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War” in the US and Canada. Moreover, it mentions late 2020 arrival of the game’s PS5 version for the rest of the world.

Sony has already opened the pre-order for the PS5. Unfortunately, the Japanese gaming giant still maintains the Holiday 2020 PS5 release window.
